Good Idea, Bad Idea?

Now, I won't deny that I've enjoyed this week's stroll down photographic memory lane, but I've noticed that there haven't been a lot of comments on these "Favorite Pics" posts. Is that because the pleasure exceeded your powers of verbal expression, or were you all just thinking "Been there, done that. Tell us more about the lizard"?

Go ahead and be honest. If you enjoyed it, I'd like to know; if you didn't, I suggest you tell me now, lest I ignorantly subject you to similar torment six months from now when Joy has an actual birthday.

Favorite Joy Pics: June '07 (so far)

In the words of my friend, Beth: "Ooooh! Look at them little biters!"

First solid food: Lime Snow Cone.

Second solid food: Rice Cereal.

Three babies in our apartment complex born within a month of each other. From left: Kellin, Nathan, and Joy (with moms Dayna, Jessica, and Yours Truly).

Joy's favorite new sleeping position. Doesn't look that comfortable to me, but hey, I wasn't consulted.

Favorite Joy Pics: April '07

Another warm fuzzy. This is one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen.

Joy, Fred, and the bunny-duck spread Easter cheer.

Baby celebrated her 4-month birthday by getting her first cold. It wouldn't have been so bad if her panicky mom hadn't kept stuffing the bulb syringe up her nose every few minutes. Poor kid.

Every time I see this picture, I'm just sure Joy's saying, "Well, lemme tell ya, honey . . ."

Rosy cheeks, no warts.

Mom, why do you keep pointing that flashy box at me?

A 24" baby learning to stand: Two feet on two feet.

Joy makes everybody smile. :)

This was our desktop wallpaper for weeks.

Joy finally faces forward in the Bjorn, and her walks suddenly become a lot more interesting.

Favorite Joy Pics: January '07

We're now getting into blog photo territory, so some of these may look familiar. Ah, the sleep-deprived memories . . .

Never try to use your baby as an alarm clock.

First push-up.

Failed attempt to photograph first bath.

One super cute little girl.

Wild Adventures

Sure, I want our home to be a place where everyone feels welcome, but I tend to define "everyone" as "all warm-blooded bipeds." Call me exclusive.

Apparently this guy didn't get the memo. I might have been lenient if he'd been willing to pay part of the rent, but since he wasn't interested in that offer I escorted him outside and wished him luck house-hunting.

In other news, Joy and her buddies headed down to the Citadel outlet mall today. Most people wait until college to see how many friends they can fit into one vehicle. :)

As you can see from the sign on the left, outlet savings are somewhat overrated.

Favorite Joy Pics: December '06

In honor of Joy's recent semi-birthday, we've decided to post selections of our favorite pictures from her first six months of life. Here's December. A new month's pictures will be posted each day of this week.

A family hug on Day One.

Baby meets Grandparents.

Cute picture - enough said.

I've always really liked this one - Joy obviously enjoyed her first Christmas Day. Probably had something to do with the BYU onesie she received from Cosmo the Cougar.

Joy decides that grandmas and aunts are very comforting people. Smart girl.

Rice Cereal

We finally broke out the rice cereal this evening. Since Mommy has been feeding Joy for the last six months, Daddy asked to be the first to feed her with a spoon.

When we told Joy we were going to start feeding her solid food, she thought we meant the bib.

Dinner actually went fairly well. Most of the rice cereal wound up flowing down Joy's chin, and she only took about three spoonfuls before deciding she'd had enough, but I gather that's pretty typical for a first feeding.

Here's to Daddy

I was going to write a tender Father's Day message, but I think I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

Pretty much from the day she arrived, Joy had at least one tall, dark, and handsome man desperately in love with her.

And she's pretty fond of him, too. :)

Happy Semi-Birthday, Joy

I can't believe it's already been half a year . . .

Six months ago today, our family looked like this.

Now it looks like this - Joy standing tall with a little help from Daddy.

And this - Mommy and Joy getting ready to blow out the candle.

Thanks so much for coming to join our family, Baby. We love you.

Slides and Solids

The Pasadena Stake held a carnival today, featuring rides, food, and lots of fun.

Joy was a bit young for the pony rides or the big, inflatable slide, so Daddy took her on the little one, instead.

We also introduced her to the supernal delights of playground swings.

Last but not least, we decided to finally start Baby eating solids.

Hey! Bring that snow cone back, Dad!
