Birthday Fire Flower

The three younger kids have their big piano recital tomorrow evening . . .

. . . so Joy opted to have her birthday celebration tonight.
She felt it would be better to have her birthday dinner and dessert a day early
than try to cram them into a busy night tomorrow.

Once Joy finished frosting her cake,
I added a fancy candle.
The kids didn't pay much attention to it . . .

. . . until we lit the center wick and it bloomed like a giant, flaming daisy . . .

. . . that also played "The Happy Birthday Song" . . .

. . . which kept repeating over and over until Daddy cut the wire and got it to stop.
Right around the time that the music finally cut out,
Joy realized she's SIXTEEN YEARS OLD!!!
(Minus one day.)

Happy (early) birthday, Joy!
I love your inquisitive mind, your compassionate heart, and your boundless zeal.
Thanks for posing questions I don't think to ask,
and understanding when I'm sometimes too tired to answer them.
