Pilgrim's Progress--The Obstacle Course!

Our favorite activity at yesterday's festival
(even more than the not-free-but-super-yummy cannoli)
was an obstacle course . . .

. . . that was actually a fun recreation
of John Bunyan's famous Christian allegory
"The Pilgrim's Progress."

After traversing several hazardous obstacles . . .

. . . the pilgrims laid their burdens down at the foot of a cross . . .

. . . but their journey wasn't through yet!
They then had to choose between the Plains of Ease
(which were a very real temptation, given all of the free food over there),
or forging ahead up the Hill of Difficulty.

Bring on the Hill of Difficulty!
We can handle it!

The kids then donned armor to confront the nefarious Apollyon
(who represents the Devil and worldliness).

They emerged victorious, but soon found themselves in a prison
which they could only escape by reading Bible verses
attached to keys they received earlier in their journey.

All in all, it was a delightful dose of fun
and a nice reminder to seek rest, strength, and liberty through God.
