Semi-Virtual Camp and Hurricane Prep

This is what girls' camp looks like for Joy this year:

A bag of craft supplies, and a laptop.  The girls and leaders also donned masks and met up for a midday hike today.  Unfortunately, it was cut short because Hurricane Isaias was due to roar through Massachusetts this afternoon.  'Cuz that's 2020 for you: pandemic with a side of hurricanes.

We prepared for high winds by bringing my potted plants indoors, then removing the side net supports from our trampoline and turning it upside down.  It's hard to imagine a heavy trampoline even budging in a strong wind, but we knew a family in Arkansas whose trampoline went airborne during a big storm and crashed through their neighbor's fence.  We wanted our trampoline to stay put, and I'm sure our neighbors would prefer that too.

Anna thinks an upside-down trampoline is still fun to play on.

After we finished with the trampoline, Phillip pointed out that we should remove the tarp from our skylight too.  Joy eagerly volunteered to clamber up onto the roof and remove the tarp and bricks.  She then posed for a picture with Eddy the Squishmallow next to the liberated skylight.

The good news is that Hurricane Isaias didn't end up doing much damage in our area.  The other good news is that today was National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, and we baked some cookies to celebrate.
