Figures

I knew Joy would someday gravitate toward "girl shoes."

I just didn't know it would happen this soon. Or that she would choose shoes this big. :)

Invisibility

Don't you love how little kids think that if they cover their eyes, you can't see them?

"Where's Joy? Where did she go?"

[Gasp!] "There she is!"

Thinking Outside the Shoe Box

Our little girl outgrew her summer sandals all to quickly, so we headed to the store today to look for some new shoes. Most of the "girl" shoes sported rhinestones or sequins, and their pretty white exteriors would look grungy after about two seconds at the playground. Since Joy's mama is usually more interested in practicality than fashion, we ended up buying . . .

. . . some sensible brown shoes. From the "boy" section.

And yes, I am aware that I will only be able to get away with this for a few more months. Before I know it, Joy will probably refuse to wear anything but the sparkly "girl" shoes with tiara-bearing Disney characters on them. Ah well--to each her own, right?

"Mama"

Daddy has had his very his own Joy word ("Dee!") for months now, whereas I have had to content myself with being pointed and grunted at. Recently, though, our little girl has finally begun to use the word "Mama" consistently. I would be thrilled if it weren't for the fact that whenever Joy says "Mama," she's referring to . . .

. . . her stuffed bunny. Joke's on you, Mom!

Where's YOUR nose?

One of Joy's favorite games lately is pointing out different facial features and having you name them. You know you've been accepted to into Joy's circle of friends if, after pointing to her own neck, Daddy's neck, and Mama's neck, she comes over and wants to point to yours, too.

"Where's Joy's chin?"

"Where's Daddy's chin?"

Ooh, some double-pointing action: Joy's nose and Daddy's at the same time!

Celebrity Sighting

So tell me, Joy . . .

. . . is that your impression of the Joker, or are you just a really big fan of cran-raspberry juice?
