One of Anna's General Conference prizes
was a coupon to go on a hike with me.
I've set a goal to hike every trail in town by the end of this year,
and this afternoon we decided to explore a new trail in the Mary Shepherd Conservation Land.
Mary Shepherd was captured by Native Americans in 1676 during King Philip's War.
She later escaped on a horse during the night,
and made it safely back home to her family.
Although its namesake had a harrowing history,
the Mary Shepherd trail is very peaceful.
Anna and I explored a few branches of the trail . . .
. . . snapped some pictures of an interesting tree . . .
. . . and followed a little stream around a bend
to see where it meandered off to.
Sometimes in this hectic world,
it's nice to just pick a new trail you've never tried before,
and stroll along it with someone you love.
Thanks for exploring with me, Anna!
