Whilst perusing our local library's literary offerings the other day, I noticed that the library also lets you check out . . .
. . . an NES Classic Edition. Our kids were mildly entertained by this technological antique as they busted 8-bit bricks and tried not to get munched by piranha plants.
I was more excited to play my dad's favorite NES game: Castlevania. I was pleased to find that I still had pretty good timing as I dodged ravens and bats, and that I remembered where most of the game's Easter eggs are. I made it to Level 4 before Frankenstein put an end to my monster-fighting exploits. Not too shabby for someone who hasn't held a virtual whip in about three decades.
