Birthdays Are Just Ducky

It's Joy's first birthday next week, but since many of her playgroup buddies will be out of town, we decided to host a playgroup/party at our place yesterday.

Here Baby plays with the balloons as she eagerly awaits the arrival of guests. "No way, Mom! Will these things REALLY make me talk funny?"

Here's the party. Again, nothing captivates toddlers like balloons.

And for the adults, here's the birthday spread (to which Jessica generously added a tasty, cream cheesy appetizer). I found some fun, holiday rubber duckies as favors, then kind of built the theme from there. You know - ducks, and yellow, and . . . er . . . Christmas.

OK, so I'm no Martha Stewart, but you have to admit the duckies are cute.

The party was really fun, and I loved the goodie bag! Those little santa ducks were so cute!

Wow... I remember how tiny Joy was when you started this blog. Hard to believe an entire year has passed!

Happy Birthday sweet Joy! I have enjoyed reading about all of your adventure this past year and seeing you grow in to a beautiful little girl. :)

Paul had a great time at the party and he loves the yellow duck. He plays with it in the bathtub every night.

Happy Birthday, Joy! We haven't seen you since you were about 3 weeks old, and we're so excited to see how you've grown in the past year! See you soon!

happy birthday joy!!! looks like the party was a hit.

just a mental side note, balloons are fun for kids, but can be very scary. if they pop and the child swallows it, it blocks the airway completely and you cannot get it back out. very very scary, so watch the little ones carefully!!

i sound like a crazy person, dont get me wrong aidan loves balloons as well, i'm just crazy about watching him around them, hehe!

Good point, Jodi. I actually disposed of the balloons not long after the party because of similar concerns.
