Winter Potatoes

This past weekend . . .

. . . we got a bit of snow.

It made our Christmas lights look magical . . .

. . . but the spinach plants prefer to admire the winter wonderland
from the warmth of our kitchen.

The potato plants got a little too cold the other day and completely wilted,
so I dumped out the soil by Compost Hill,
and collected any little potatoes I could find.
They don't look like much when they're covered with dirt in the bottom of a bucket . . .

. . . but they cleaned up nicely, and I'm looking forward to serving them to my family.
As with the purple peas, the yield was small, but it was a good first attempt,
and there's something really cool about eating food that I grew myself.
