Never Too Early For Jelly Beans

We had an early Easter egg hunt in the park today . . .

. . . with a bunch of our friends.

Here's everyone at the starting line (hey, Daniel--you're off sides).

We found lots of eggs . . .

. . . and enjoyed some tasty snacks (eh . . . what's up, doc?).

Good times.

Through the Desert on a Bike with No Name

One of Phillip's former professors (now a friend--he's the tall guy in the middle) invited him on a group motorcycle ride to and from Death Valley today.

They stopped periodically to rest and take in the verdant scenery. Actually, most of the stops were at gas stations, but this stop was unscheduled--a few of the riders missed a turn-off, and everyone had to wait for them to circle back. Incidentally, Phillip's bike is the yellow one on the left.

They had a bite to eat in a little town called Indian Wells, then headed home.

This fellow's bike had a little trouble on the way back, so he made the return trip on four wheels. Ironically, his was the bike that everyone was admiring at the beginning of the ride. I feel bad for him, but I have to admit the slogan on the tow truck cracks me up.

The trip took almost 12 hours to complete--that's a lot of time in the saddle. According to Phillip's odometer, the round-trip ride was over 500 miles long.

Good thing gas is cheap.

Toque, Spinach, Roll

What have the kids been up to lately?

Joy decorated some card stock with shamrock stencils at preschool, and decided to turn it into a toque.

Daniel and I tried making a Green Monster Spinach Smoothie this morning. I wasn't sure he'd be willing to drink something green, but he came back for thirds. I guess that's one way to get your kids to consume green veggies.

Anna has almost mastered the fine art of rolling over. She'll be crawling before I know it. Yikes!

Pretzels + Cadbury = Yum

We made pretzel treats again today. Daniel helped out by handing us Kisses to unwrap . . .

. . . and by making sure the lights were on (and off, and on, and off . . .).

This time we used Peanut M&Ms and Cadbury Mini Eggs. They were both good, and I like them better than using regular M&Ms (which are cute but a little boring).

The Thieving Tree

The kids and I had a picnic in the park today.

A tree tried to steal Joy's shoe, but we recovered it before the tree got away.

Gilding the Shamrock

We made some homegrown holiday decor for home evening tonight.

Everyone old enough to wield a sticker decorated a shamrock plate.

Joy displayed her completed masterpiece . . .

. . . then insisted on photographing mine.

All our plates are now proudly displayed on our front door (along with Joy's list of fun things to do, and a note she wrote telling Daddy and me that she loves us--awww).

Grandma's Got Skills

Pink Grandma came to visit today.

We threaded colorful beads . . .

. . . drew with Grandma's cool crayons . . .

. . . cuddled . . .

. . . and played with Mr. Potato Head. Joy was bummed that his hat got left at Grandma's house . . .

. . . so Grandma made him one. Thanks, Grandma. :)
